Men’s Frame Trends for Fall and Winter 2010

Von daianna, 08:51

Comfort, fit and durability rank high with men when it comes to choosing their eyeglasses. While men are concerned with style, they won't forsake comfort and fit just to look good. Men have their own tastes, but it may be a wife, girlfriend or significant other who will influence the final style or color of the frame.

If you want to know which eyeglass frames are the must-have look of the season, check out these trends. Also see the current eyeglass frame trends for women.

Top Gun. Rugged, all-American aviator styles still flatter men's faces, as shown by the new metal Balenciaga BAL0076 frame in silver. Tradition also prevails in the Hart Schaffner Marx HSM744 patterned black frame, also in metal. Stetson's metal ST248 frame deviates from the norm a bit with an oval shape in silver.

Robust. Embedded patterns in plastic give some of these tough, new frames for men a multi-layered look. Evatik's new E9017 frame in black has bridges, patterns and flat tops. XXL continues to keep men's more robust faces in mind with the line's newest super-sized, rectangular style, the Seadog, available in patterned gray and cutouts. Ebony's newest EEC8 plastic black frame has a semi-rimless, square shape.

Rock Star. Even if you can't really be a rock star, you certainly can acquire the look in these new frames that might remind you of a few late, great crooners from decades ago. Hit the dance floor in Giorgio Armani's black, squared GA788 frames. Randy Jackson's RJ1013 vintage frame in black will make you want to hop on stage and grab a guitar. Try rocking around the clock in Seraphin's 9063 retro frames with tortoise colors, metal accents and a keyhole bridge.

When asked what adds value to their eyewear choice, 52 percent of the survey respondents said that spring hinges (which prevent you from stretching the fit of your eyeglasses) are most important. About half said frames that are flexible and bend so they won't break easily (such as those made of Marchon's Flexon material, for example) are most important.
